June 2007 Archives
It's dougnut Friday! w00t!
It's also 0833hrs and virtually no one is in the office.
More doughnuts for me (I'm usually satisfied by a single maplebar, tho).
Yesterday was a long day - in around 0700, went home about 2115. I suspect today will be shorter.
BTW, I got gas yesterday, but did not make it to the bank. Probably fine, since I got a DirecTV $100 rebate in the mail yesterday afternoon, so now I can take that to the bank all in OneFellSwoop!
Oh, and BTW, DirecTV still hasn't found the money I sent them when they F'd up my account(s). My bank CALLED them yesterday and escalated the investigation. I swear. DTV's really been falling down seriously. It really makes me start thinking about alternatives.
I refer you to this article discussing a new Google Maps feature.
Go there, have it generate a route from A to B. Now mouse-over the blue route line it shows you. Notice the little mouse-over that says "drag to change route."
We've waited for this for ever - since these map sites tend to do what they *think* is the best route - but you KNOW BETTER! Now you can change it yourself, and it will adjust the route & directions.
Life rules! :)
...you lose your debit card. The restaurant I think I left it at says they do not have it. I have, of course, canceled it already (and verified it's canceled).
The thing is I can't do ANY shopping til I get my new card "...in 5-7 business days." Usually they're faster than that, tho (used to be that they cards came out of Phoenix, AZ). I'll have to go cash a check today to give me some cashola to keep me thru the weekend. $300 ought to do it, right? :)
The bike's back in the shop. After 6 hrs of labour on it this last weekend, and giving up, I had no choice but to take it back in to get some professional help.
I went in with the intention of saying "either I need a new derailleur hanger or you sold me the wrong kind of wheel/axle that I need." And I did say that, to be fair.
The difference this time - I actually got to speak to THE MECHANIC(tm). Not just some kid behind the counter (tho I did, and it seemed fairly clear this was just his summer job). But the MECH said he knew a couple ways to handle it, he couldn't get to it today, but he'd get it done on Wedneday for me.
Given that I spoke with THE MECHANIC(tm) this time, and he committed himself to a date - okay, cool. And honestly, as long as he can do it this week then I'm pretty cool with it. I'd love to have it functional for this weekend (again).
I've re-enabled comments in my blog - if you're an 'authenticated user' (eg. using typepad) then it'll auto-publish - all others (until I "trust" you) will be held for me to review then publish (eg. filter out the spam).
My friend Kathy just left a couple hours ago - been here since Tuesday. She's moving to San Diego later this year. Known her since college back in Vegas. Had a great time with her, but mostly gave her space to do whatever she wanted - this was her vacation, her time. I just worked mostly :) Tho she did drag me to a San Diego Padres game last night. It was fun :)
Today I upgraded MT (blog software) from v3.2 to v3.3.5. I tried to goto 4.0b3, but it was too buggy and was dying all over the place. It'll be neat once they hit gold, I doubt I'll try it again until then.
Otherwise - it's just a nice, sunny, calm day here in San Diego. I'll try to work on my bike later (I finally(!!!!!!!!) got it back from the bike shop (after a month, just for them to measure for a new bottom bracket--and don't get me started why the "bottom bracket" isn't a bracket in the traditional sense)). I'm really just enjoying having the peace & quiet. It's been a hectic and stressful (but not too much so) week at work.
Meanwhile - shouts out to Vernon & Richard who are in Houston this weekend. Richard always love the blog-attention :)
I'll probably play some WoW, too :)
I haven't been playing much WoW lately - and by that I mean the last 6 months. I'd like to, tho. I have a guild setup on Gul'Dan - The Browncoats (see reference to Firefly/Serenity). I'm running a mid-20's BloodElf Rogue (yes, Horde). I could use some company :)
One of my more favourite/fun songs of late (no particular reason)
Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats
Right now he's probably slow dancing with a bleach blonde tramp,
and she's probably getting frisky...
right now, he's probably buying her some fruity little drink cause she can't shoot whiskey...
Right now, he's probably up behind her with a pool-stick, showing her how to shoot a combo...
And he don't know...
That I dug my key into the side of his
pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats...
I took a Louisville Slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.
Right now, she's probably up singing some
white-trash version of Shania karaoke..
Right now, she's probably saying "I'm drunk"
and he's a thinking that he's gonna get lucky,
Right now, he's probably dabbing on
3 dollars worth of that bathroom polo
And he don't know...
That I dug my key into the side of his
pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats,
I took a Louisville Slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.
I might've saved a little trouble for the next girl,
Cause the next time that he cheats...
Oh, you know it won't be on me!
Ohh... not on me...
Cause I dug my key into the side of his
pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats...
I took a Louisville Slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.
Ohh.. Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats...
Ohh... before he cheats...
